Irrigation firm creditors’ meeting called off

A meeting of creditors of a North Otago irrigation firm was called off at the 11th hour.

A watershed meeting of creditors for the Kurow-Duntroon Irrigation Company, which is in receivership and administration, was meant to be held in Christchurch yesterday for creditors to vote on its future.

A spokeswoman for joint administrator Colin Gower, of BDO Partners, said before the meeting’s scheduled start time of 1pm yesterday that it had been "adjourned", but did not provide any explanation.

The irrigation firm owes more than $50 million to creditors including a state entity and the Waitaki District Council.

The Companies Office website showed the receivership and administration were still active as of last night.
